Canada Post Congratulates Winners of the 2013 Aboriginal Education Incentive Awards

Ottawa (ON) – Canada Post today announced the winners of the 2013 Aboriginal Education Incentive Awards. Launched in 2004, the Awards acknowledge the hard work and drive required to continue education following an absence from formal schooling.

The Canada Post Aboriginal Education Incentive Awards are open to all Aboriginal Canadians who have completed one full year of school following an absence of at least one year. All applicants submit an essay detailing their challenges and personal success. Each year, up to 24 winners of a prize of $1,000 are chosen by a selection panel which includes Canada Post representatives as well as a member from the Aboriginal community.

The 2013 Aboriginal Education Incentive Award recipients are:

  • British Columbia: Amanda Adams, Sabrina Blanchard, Terry Dicks, Tyler Sheppard and Dawn Wilson
  • Alberta: Jeffery Chalifoux, Tina Nash and Nathan Pay
  • Saskatchewan: Danielle Bird and Cindy Roberts
  • Manitoba: Robin Ipirq
  • Ontario: Laurie Barnard, Yolanda Bonnell, Brent Hill, Valerie Hopkins, Carrie Frances Grenier, Natasha Johnston, Steven Pelletier, Kerry Peltier, Amy Shawanda and Rhonda Wabasse
  • Quebec: Peter Annahatak and Vicky Rioux
  • Nova Scotia: Ellen Cabot
