Toronto (ON) – The City of Toronto is expanding its digital capabilities to serve citizens via epost, Canada’s largest bill consolidation service. Torontonians can add property tax bill statements, in addition to the already available utility bill. The City of Toronto’s move to e-billing underscores the importance of both adapting to and accelerating the digital habits of citizens in an effort to offer more digital convenience at reduced costs and with improved efficiencies.

“The City of Toronto is the largest of the 17 municipal government partners of epost and we are excited that it is taking the lead to expand the number of citizen services available through us,” says Kerry Munro, Group President, Digital Delivery Network at Canada Post. “For Torontonians it offers another convenient way to manage household affairs anytime, anywhere and from any device while supporting the City of Toronto’s need to be more cost efficient.”

With the addition of the City of Toronto’s property tax bill, epost users can access a wide range of city-specific bills like Toronto Hydro-Electric Systems, 407 ETR, and more, as well as national telecommunications and utility bills and credit card statements. With more than 7.5 million Canadians having registered for a free digital mailbox, epost is the easier and safer way to consolidate, manage and pay your bills through your financial institution. With 250 bills and statements from over 100 major utilities, financial and credit card services, telecommunications and all levels of government, epost offers anyone managing their electronic bills and other household priorities the simplicity of one platform with a single, secure login and password.

“The City of Toronto partnership is a great testament to the strength of epost in meeting both the needs of citizens but also for all levels of government to move toward a digital platform – securely and while protecting sensitive consumer data,” says Munro. “epost presents a viable and valuable opportunity for government not only because it reaches many Canadian households, but because we are a trusted leader when it comes to secure, online transactions, with a robust digital and physical delivery system to back it up.”

With government bodies looking for ways to reduce technology, infrastructure and human resource costs under stringent budgets and environmental impact, epost presents a strong value proposition as a platform for additional e-government services. Canada Post is working closely with municipalities across the country to add even more digital services to epost in the future.
