Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) are scheduled to hold three days of negotiations this week. These talks are being held in parallel with the work of the Industrial Inquiry Commission, which is examining the current collective bargaining dispute as well as Canada Post’s broader financial situation and competitiveness.
Negotiations process
The three days of negotiations are scheduled for January 15, 16 and 17. The negotiations will be mediated by William Kaplan, who is also leading the Industrial Inquiry Commission announced by the Minister of Labour in December.
We are committed to reaching negotiated agreements with CUPW that will help us better serve the changing needs of Canadians while providing good jobs to those who provide that service. We remain focused on doing this within the new process, with a goal of reaching agreements without another labour disruption.
Collective agreements remain in effect
The existing collective agreements between Canada Post and CUPW have been extended until May 22. While the collective agreements are in effect, a labour disruption cannot occur.
Keeping Canadians informed
We’ll continue to provide updates on negotiations and the work of the Industrial Inquiry Commission to ensure Canadians have the most up-to-date information.
